Friends and Thanks

Only 2 weeks left until world Animal Day!!! It's all hands on deck to get everything ready for the event in Antigua now to be held at Rainbow Café as we had to change venues last minute, just to keep us on our toes. Location sorted now we are very excited about the festivities on October 1st.

Last weekend we had our monthly spay/neuter clinic and as always the people and animals started lining up at 7am. The vets did 27 operations mainly female dogs and cats this month, it was a long but very successful day with beloved pets and also street dogs getting neutered.

Talking of ‘pawsitive’ results this week also brought in more donations for our World Animal Day appeal. We now have $700 raised, which covers 2 months of dog and cat food for all the animals. A huge thank you to all those who have donated and shared the cause. There is still time left to donate, we need to raise funds to help repair the pens and continue out spay/ neuter clinics. Every dollar counts and goes directly to helping animals such as Bridget (sitting up) and Griffin.

Bridget is a well-loved member of the shelter family, unfortunately, her back legs are paralysed. She has a wheelchair, however she enjoys spending her days sitting in the sun and she will move to her favourite spots when she wants without the aid of the wheelchair. Griffin came to the shelter this year, she had a machete wound across her shoulder and was understandably afraid of people when she arrived. Its amazing what a bit of patience, love and friendship can do. Now Griffin is fully recovered and though still a little nervous of new people she is affectionate and happily greets staff and volunteers. Bridget took the younger Griffin under her wing and they have become best friends, always found together relaxing in the sun.

From Bridget, Griffin and the rest of the AWARE family, thank you so much for your help so far and please remember to join us and Celebrate World Animal Day!!
